When we moved to South Africa, we had expected excellent weather throughout the year. In fact, since Sunday, the weather has been very similar to many European countries: gray, rainy and relatively cool (16-20 degrees). In fact, very appropriate weather for starting my job in South Africa on Monday, October 18th. The good news is that October is spring in South Africa, so the good weather will come in the next few weeks and everyone has been reassuring me that it will be much better (possibly too hot) soon.

On Wednesday, we spent 5 hours opening a bank-account! In order to open a bank account in South Africa, you need all kinds of forms as it is heavily regulated. The bank had also huge problems (about an hours worth of work) to find Belgium in their form. In fact, they thought it might be part of Germany or Denmark. As far as I know, this has not been the case for 50 years, but I might be mistaken.
